Difference between Regular Coffee and Starbucks Co

Released on 2011-08-01 by Emily

Starbucks has emerged as a fake status symbol of these days. People pay about 10 times as much because they use fancy words.

Coffee in a coffee shop: 60 cents
Café Latte at Starbucks: $3.50
Café Cremier: $4.50
Café Suisse: $9.50

So basically, they keep adding French words and keep raising the price tags. So how come a bit of extra cream make your coffee worth $3.50? You can go to any coffee shop and get all the cream you want for no charges (or very little charges). Why? Because it’s name is coffee.
If it were called café latte, it would be $3.50. And if you wanted cinnamon, it would be $9.50!! You can go to any ordinary coffee shop and ask for cinnamon- it will be the same, and no extra charges.

Oh and you can get as many refills as you want in regular coffee shops. And to get a refill at Starbucks, you have to shell out $1.50. Two refills for $4.50. And three refills for $19.50. Plus it’s just burnt coffee.
Coffee at Starbucks is burnt- honestly. If any other coffee shop would offer you burnt coffee, you would probably fight with them, but when it’s at Starbucks, you say “it’s the blend. Some special bean from Antarctica.”

That bean, ladies and gentlemen, is in your head. And they don’t give you chairs either. They have high stools. Are they really comfortable? I haven’t been on chairs that high since I was 2. You spend 5 minutes to climb that stool. I don’t know how that’s a status symbol. And then you can’t get off the chair.

Do you even remember how cafeterias used to be? In poor areas, cafeterias didn’t have waiters. You had to service your own order, and you didn’t have to pay tips. You had cardboard cups. So you got less. And you paid less too. But not so with Starbucks. You get a cardboard cup, no chairs, no service, and you pay through your nose.

With Starbucks, you have to pay more for the less you get. So maybe by the time you get to carry air in your hands, you have to pay them $200- just a scenario… with their rates, it’s not totally impossible.

And have you ever bought a cookie at Starbucks? In other restaurants, a 60 cent cookie is good enough to be called a complete snack. But in Starbucks, you need a magnifying glass to find a $9.50 cookie.

If that’s not a great business idea, I don’t know what is… and people are still flocking up to Starbucks- to raise their ‘status.’
