3/08/2007 - 2007 World Barista Champion is James Hoffman of the UK!

Congratulations to James Hoffman - this years World Barista Champion!

Last years Latte Art champion, and this years Australian Barista Champian Scott Callaghan was the first competitor to pour a double rosetta on a cappucino! He put together a fantastic performance, but unfortunately had grinder trouble. Other results shown below:

30/06/2007 - 2007 Sydney Latte Art Championships

The 2007 Sydney Latte Art Championships, held Sunday 22nd July as part of the 2007 Rocks Aroma Festival will be upstairs in the overseas passenger terminal, The Rocks - Sydney NSW

The latte art competition at the Aroma Festival this year will be for the Sydney title. There will however, be a NSW competition later in the year, which will be the pathway to the national latte art championships. This year, there will be no entry fee to the Sydney Latte Art competition and the winning competitor will reserve his/her place in the NSW finals at no cost. Competitors will need to bring their own coffee. AASCA will provide a machine and grinder.

Entry fee: free
Entry deadline: Monday 16th July
When: Sunday 22nd July, 2007
Time: 9:30am competitors arrive & unload equipment
10:30am competitor meeting to discuss
11:00am competition start

Wow, I am flooded with work, and this site keeps on growing. I knew some of my queries were getting slow, but I got an email letting me know that they were hogging the servers resources. The stats will be back soon! Sorry for any inconvenience.

I also removed a lot of spam users. This will help the above situation, but I did it mainly because I like to keep things clean. All the remaining contributors have contributed something, even just a vote. But it proves they are not a spam user.

Wow, heaps of new latte art photos, comments and votes! Thanks everyone! Some fantastic latte artists in the coffee community right now, it is amazing!

Aight, so now all thumbnails are 60x60, this looks a little neater, and it makes the forum / myspace signature look much better! Thanks Jon for your input!

The image caching is now much nicer, funky image ID's no longer freak the site out, I have removed some duplicate images and I have fixed a few other little bugs.

Finally! You can edit the title and comment of your latte art photos! This was a much requested feature, and after getting another email about it today, I jumped it up to the top of my list of things to do :)

Thanks everyone for your feedback and linkage! There is now another reason to link to Rate My Rosetta, the link queue! On the front page, along with another new feature showing the number of users and guests online, is the link queue!

The link queue looks at who is sending traffic to this web site. Every time someone clicks on a link to Rate My Rosetta from your web site, you will be jumped to the top of the queue! This means that a link to your web page will be shown on the front page of Rate My Rosetta for a period every click!

It is still the 30th, just, and I have been working on Rate My Rosetta again! This time, I have added profile and image view counts, image vote counts, image upload dates and 'last seen' dates!

The coolest new feature is something you can't see, I have added query caching to my database abstraction layer! There was some big queries being run on every page load, not smart! That is fixed now :)

You may notice some of the image view counts are lower than the vote counts, the reason is that I have just introduced this code and associated database tables, so they will look out of whack for a while, but will fix themselves up in time!

This site is finally 'maturing' and should be very stable now! Please, tell all of your friends about Rate My Rosetta, the fantastic latte art photo site!

A few more changes around here. The biggest being that you can now edit your comments! Thanks for the feedback treefinger!

Another exciting feature is you can now embed your RateMyRosetta stats right into your web page / blog / myspace / forum posts. Log in and go to your profile for detailed instructions and some (very simple) sample code.

If you have any issues, feature requests or any kind of feedback what so ever, please email me and I will do what I can to help you! If you use the profile code in one of your pages, I would love to check it out, so let me know!

There is still heaps of fun stuff to come, and loads more features. Unfortunately I have too much else to do right now though. But I will get onto it very soon! Check back by the end of the week!

More small changes. A couple of bug fixes and now, RateMyRosetta remembers you for 100 days after you log in! This means you do not need to log into the site every time you come back to check the latest latte art photos.

Previously if you wanted to comment on a picture of a rosetta or some other latte art, you would have to re-login if you hadn't done so already. Now, you don't need to re-login for 100 days!

Remember, if you see any posts on the Internet wondering about latte art, etching or free pour, send them here!

OK, so I spent last night playing with the site. A few new / cool things are that links are now detected and made clickable, and smilies are also converted to nice emoticons.

I have also added a post to del.icio.us icon on the latte art page, so if you like a particular picture, you can bookmark it on del.icio.us for later use.

I also added the post to del.icio.us icon at the bottom of every page. Please use it if you use del.icio.us! It will give your images and profiles better exposure to the none-coffee community who might not have otherwise found out about Rate My Rosetta or your photos / profiles.

One last thing, if anyone wants to write a latte art tutorial, please do! I will put it up on the web site, and give you full credit / link back to your web site etc. If you are interested, please email me.

I have been playing with rate my rosetta all day today! Sorry to anyone that has been inconvenienced.

The good news is that there are a few new features, such as the statistics (above this post) and the contributors table. On top of that, things should be much quicker now!

The top ten ratings (right) are now using joins instead of sub queries (which seem to be really slow with MySQL) and the thumbnails are now being saved on the server so they are not being created every time someone visits the page! (Sorry about the geek speak)

I want rate my rosetta to be *the* latte art web site, so I need your suggestions! If you would like to see anything added to rate my rosetta, or if you would like certain things changed, please email me and let me know!

The only way rate my rosetta will get better is if everyone helps out, so please send me some feedback or constructive criticism.

Another big ask is to all of you who have web sites and blogs. I would love a link or two! We have the opportunity to make something great out of this site, please help support the community!
